Each of these factors decreases the possibility of violent conflict and creates a ‘virtuous cycle’ of investment and employment that leads to more growth.
To build the strong private and public sectors necessary for stability, we work with individual firms and entrepreneurs, as well as local and national governments and NGOs. For example, we support government ministries working to provide a transparent, efficient, and supportive regulatory environment necessary for businesses to thrive while concurrently providing training and consulting assistance to small business owners to help them increase sales of goods and services domestically and prepare for exports. This combined ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’ approach helps to ensure that all elements crucial to the growth of a post-conflict economy are functional.
