The 4th Annual International Corporate Volunteerism Conference
On April 11-12, 2013, CDC Development Solutions convened leaders from PepsiCo, GlaxoSmithKline, IBM, SAP, Merck, John Deere, Pfizer, Dow Corning, alongside members of the U.S. Department of State, USAID, International Business Leaders Forum, and other prominent public sector groups for the 4th Annual International Corporate Volunteerism Conference. These organizations looked at the growing field of International Corporate Volunteerism (ICV) and responsible leadership. Doing Deals - 2011 ANDE Orientation Training
In May, Bob Webster gave a presentation as part of ANDE's annual two-day training program for new hires and summer associates of ANDE members. Entitled "Doing Deals", the presentation focused on finding and screening deals, due diligence, valuation and deal structuring, and adding value.
Local Content Solutions Master Class in Local Content
In May, Shaun Doherty gave a presentation on SME Development as part of Local Content Solutions' Master Class focusing on capital projects, operations, procurement, social performance and sustainable development.
Developing Corporate Partnerships at the Foundation Center
In May, Kate Ahern presented a class at the Foundation Center on developing corporate partnerships to further international development goals.
Nigeria PPPs for Maritime Training in the Oil and Gas sector
In May in Lagos, Deirdre White delivered a presentation entitled “Successful Models to Inform a Maritime Training Public-Private Partnership for Nigeria". She presented in conjunction with the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Global Maritime and Transportation School.

2011 International Corporate Volunteerism Conference
In April, CDS hosted more than 130 representatives from leading companies, NGOs, and government agencies to provide an in-depth look at the trends, impacts, and unique business and personal benefits of International Corporate Volunteerism.
NACD Panel on Corporate Responsibility
In April, Deirdre White presented “The How's and Why's of Corporate Social Responsibility” at the National Association of Corporate Directors’ meeting at DLA Piper.
Clinton Global Initiative Employee Engagement Workgroup Meeting
In April, CDS hosted the quarterly meeting of CGI’s Pathways to Employee Engagement Workgroup meeting at our offices in Washington, DC.
Ghana Summit on Oil & Gas Local Content Workshop
Shaun Doherty and Ghana Country Director Barbara Gbologah-Quaye each presented on panels at the Ghana Summit on Oil and Gas in April in Accra. Barbara presented “SME Local Content: Ghana’s Achievements to date & Possible Next Steps,” which focused on CDS’ gap analysis work in the country. Shaun presented “Ensuring Local Content in Oil Operations,” for which he shared best practices developed through our STI program in Angola.

Tourism Development Workshop at TravelCom
In March, Jailan Adly facilitated a workshop at TravelCom’s annual conference in Las Vegas. The workshop, “Engaging Locally to Grow Globally,” addressed the business benefits of tourism companies engaging in development work.
