CDS is a global leader providing innovative solutions to complex development challenges. We design programs to meet unique local needs, while also meeting the standards of an integrated global economy.

Global Citizenship and Volunteerism
CDC Development Solutions recruits, trains, places and supports skilled volunteers who provide management and technical assistance to small businesses, educational institutions, NGOs, advocacy organizations, associations, local governments, and communities - all who benefit from this highly effective form of foreign assistance and citizen diplomacy.
Leveraging volunteer skills and spirit is not a new activity for us. Volunteerism was the driving force of the creation of Citizens Democracy Corps nearly 20 years ago, and it continues to be a both a core value and unique asset within our organization.
Different types of volunteers are useful for different types of projects and economic development challenges. Our global network of over 10,000 expert volunteer falls into four categories:
- The MBA Enterprise Corps
- MBAs Without Borders
- Skills-Based Volunteer Advisors
- International Corporate Volunteers
There is no typical profile for a CDC volunteer. Volunteers have included the vice president of a major investment bank who spent a year working with the nascent ministries in Southern Sudan, an American local government official who assisted municipalities in Guatemala with their budgeting, a former oil industry executive who travels to Africa several times a year to train local companies on bids and contracts, and teams from a leading technology firm who helped to empower communities in Tanzania balance economic growth and conservation.
Nearly all of CDC Development Solutions’ programs utilize the skills of volunteers. Not only is this a unique and cost-effective way to transfer skills to clients in emerging markets in need. It is also a significant contribution to ensuring that international business leaders have the cultural intelligence to become global citizens.
