Tourism Development Corps
In January 2005, CDC Development Solutions launched a new division called the Tourism Development Corps™. CDS has long been involved in tourism development through innovative programs that it implements throughout the world. Recognizing that the global travel and tourism industry has a powerful and multi-sectoral impact on generating employment and growth in developing countries, and recognizing the incredible willingness of experts in the tourism field to donate their time, CDS created TDC™ to utilize highly-skilled volunteers to provide ground-breaking services in emerging markets worldwide.
TDC's mission is to utilize proven best practices in sustainable tourism development to provide training, technical and managerial assistance to individuals, small and medium size enterprises, regional and national governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders. In doing so, TDC fields volunteer experts who provide innovative tourism development interventions to support the creation of economic opportunities, prosperity, and national wealth. TDC taps into the skills of volunteer experts who have knowledge in niche areas along the tourism value chain, including:
